The colossal misunderstanding of our time is the assumption that insight
will work with people who are unmotivated to change. Communication does
not depend on syntax, or eloquence, or rhetoric, or articulation but on
the emotional context in which the message is being heard. People can
only hear you when they are moving toward you, and they are not likely
to when your words are pursuing them. Even the choicest words lose their
power when they are used to overpower. Attitudes are the real figures of
speech.

The Hypnotist

Currently, the national news media is saturated with stories about the proposed national health care reform and, to a lesser extent, the latest minimum wage increase. Both issues are of importance to small business owners and their employees. Another that should be on the radar screen of business owners and their employees is legal service plans, or pre-paid legal services.

The reason is simple: in a time of economic volatility, small business owners are more likely to need access to legal services – both for proactive purposes, such as creditor debt collection, and for preventative purposes, such as lawsuit defense. Ironically, this is the time small business can least afford the high cost of “hourly fee” or “flat” fee services of most corporate law firms.

Pre-paid legal service plans benefit the small business in two distinct ways. First, from an operational perspective, there are a variety of plans that can be tailored to the needs of the business owner for a fixed monthly rate. These plans include a suite of legal services, such as: legal consultation, legal correspondence, contract and business document review and trial defense services – provided by attorneys from a provider law firm with local market experience.

Secondly, legal service plans can be incorporated into the company’s human resource benefits package…http://www.fwbusinesspress.com/print.php?id=10762

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather a skid in broadside, thouroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming — Wow — what a ride!

Permanent losses

About 45% of the 6.5 million Americans who joined the jobless rolls in this downturn lost their positions permanently, according to the Labor Department. The rest included people on temporary layoffs and those who quit jobs. By contrast, people who lost jobs permanently made up about 35% of the unemployed in the 1990-91 and 2001 recessions.

Regardless of your background or education level, this is a business that can work for you. Pre-Paid Legal Associates come from all walks of life and professional backgrounds.

Read below to see how having and using the PPL membership made a
difference in our members' lives.

An attorney talked with a very upset member who had been falsely accused of
child abuse.  The member was outraged that she could not sue the person who
made the false report. The member even had a voice mail of the person
telling her she was going to report her due to a reason that was clearly
not abuse. The attorney explained the policy reasons for providing
protections for reporters and clarified the distinction between a
reporter who has a reason to report, even a mistaken belief that certain
behavior is abuse, and a reporter making a completely false report
solely to harass.  The attorney advised that if the voicemail stated
the caller did not believe it was abuse but was reporting simply
to be malicious, that person would not be protected but would
actually be guilty of a reportable crime.  The member was satisfied
with the explanation and recognized the distinction.  She was
relieved that she would have some recourse if a future report is made.

A member had telephone service with the adverse party, and his service
had not been working properly.  He had contacted them several times
to try to get them to fix it, but they had not done so. Our attorney
sent a letter demanding that they fix the problem.  The adverse party
did so and also credited a month on his bill.

A member bought a new car at a local dealership that included a blue tooth
system for hands-free cell phone use.  The dealership contracted with
audio component company to install it, but the system never worked
properly.  In fact, the original installer informed the member that the
system would never work correctly on her model of vehicle but the
dealership insisted that it could be adjusted to do so.  After the
attorney wrote a letter demanding a refund of the cost of the system,
the dealership responded to the member with a full refund.

Another example of how a large federal government organization only makes problems worse. This couple is probably just trying to make ends meet. From their perspective taking a job that pay less money before taxes isn't going to help their situation. As the article says, the smarter thing to do is modify the unemployment rules so that people who can work are able to do so without losing some supplemental assistance for a period. There's also that position that says if big government didn't levy such exorbitant taxes in the first place, then the couple is very likely not to have been unemployed in the first place.
