I’ve been reading “Captivating” by John & Stasi Eldredge. Here’s I thought from near the end of the book that’s worth noting:

“we don’t get to wait to offer our lives until we have our acts together. We don’t get that luxury. If we did, would anyone ever feel like offering anything? God asks us [as leaders] to be vulnerable. He invites us to share and give in our weaknesses. He wants us to offer the beauty [and confidence] that he has given us even when we are keenly aware that it is not all we wish it were. He wants us to trust him.”

I love serving with leaders in our church and community. Something inside of all of us is unique and irreplaceable. It is a work of God’s Spirit that mingles our personality and God’s image. Jesus gave a unique call during his ministry. He didn’t ask anyone to improve their life in order to follow him. He invited people to follow him and his teachings just as they were. He wanted to be the healer and mender. He even redeemed apparent weakness and turned it into unexpected strength in some cases.
